Ok, so I'm really bored, and bored people do weird things, so I have determined to give you a sneak peak at nothing less than my house! I dug up some old digital photos on my hard drive and uploaded 'em, so now I have a nice four picture tour of the place, or more correctly, part of it. Here is the first one:

As you can see, we live on a bit of land, and have a windmill. The place is a mile or so outside of town, so there aren't many people close by. In case you're curious, we built or planted most everything you see except the windmill, though we assisted heavily in its construction. The tail of the windmill has a lightning bolt and an M on it, though it's impossible to make them out in the picture. Needless to say, we painted it. Here's another angle of the place:

The solar panels are ours, and complement the windmill. The small green shack-looking thing in the middle of the picture is Smokey, our wood burning water heater. Right now it runs hot water through coils in our floor, heating the house in the winter. Eventually, we will hook it up so it can provide hot water to the house as well, thereby saving on energy bills. I know there isn't much to see, so let's check out a picture of my room:

This one is pretty old, but the general layout of the room is the same. Forgive me, my room was messy at the time. The duck on the wall was from my first (and only) duck hunting experience. As for the pictures on the wall, the top is a photo of the Missouri firing in the Persian Gulf in '91, and the bottom one is a Stan Stokes painting of an F6F Hellcat taking off from it's carrier during the Battle of the Philippine Sea, possibly more commonly known as the Great Marianas Turkey Shoot. I suppose the primary differences between my room then and now is that now I don't have than monstrous moniter (which means that Goofy had to go) and the color of my comforter has changed from white to blue. Now for one final pic:

This is of my desk, as is obvious. The huge moniter is gone, as said before, and presently only my laptop exists in its place. The debris pile on the desk has grown, including more than a few CD cases, DVDs, books, and papers. Other than that, everything is pretty much the same.
So now you know where I live! Is it not nifty? Until I come up with something else to post, this will have to do. Keep enjoying break, as the clock is rapidly counting down for our return...

"And it's a great day to be alive / I know the sun's still shining / When I close my eyes / There's some hard times in the neighborhood / But why can't every day be just this good"
Forgive me, for I have fallen into temptation. I have listened to Country music, and find it good! Well, not really, though I appreciate a vast majority of it more than rock... noise. I suppose that comes from being the son of a self-avowed "cowboy dentist" and from having listened to the stuff every day while working in Oregon over the summer (the guy who runs things up there has this radio that is tuned to the local country station quite literally 24/7. He claims his cat likes it). Perhaps the relationship between country music and I might best be descibed in terms of our being friendly enemies. There are, however, three songs that I actually do enjoy listening to, of which I selected a few lyrics from one to commence this little post with.
Anyways, break has been treating me quite well, despite the fact that I'm still not over the cough I managed to catch during the last semester. In fact, things even got worse! How's that for ironic? But I'm doing drugs (taking NyQuil), getting sleep(!) and nuking myself with antibiotics, so I ought to be on the mend.
Other than recovering from chronic illness, things have been quiet 'round these parts, though we did throw a new engine in my father's car on Christmas Day, which provided a certain amount of entertainment value. The primary reason things have been quiet is the weather, which has been hardly conducive to outside activity. Cold fog gave way to cold wind and rain a few days ago. Actually, today is the second decent day we've had here all break, decent being defined as the sky being only partially obscured by clouds and the temperature being "reasonable" by a Californian's standards. Not that I mind the bad weather - in point of fact I rather enjoy it. It is, however, a good excuse to not get much done.
Of course, there always is the christmas shopping to do. It was quite abbreviated for me, pretty much being a trip to Best Buy. The post-christmas shopping has been equally short-lived, being a trip to Barnes and Noble that yielded a few new additions to my collection of movie scores. I'm sure that news will please those of you who are always connected to my iTunes, unless of course you dislike the music from Road to Perdition, Saving Private Ryan, or Schindler's List. If that's the case, well, too bad . As for me, I find something quietly majestic about those scores, so I'll keep them.
I suppose the primary reason I began with the lyrics that I did is the fact that I finally got my grades back from classes. For once, I did slightly better than expected, though that really was only for one class - OT. As many probably know, I expected to get my very first C ever as a class grade in that class. However, for some reason I managed to get a low B in the class. Perhaps it was the imaginative answers I wrote down on the final that amused Longman and made him give me a few extra points or something. I mean, it's not every day that a student describes some king's rebellion against Babylon as "gettin' uppity," y'know? Actually, now that I think about it, it probably was the study session with Micah and Jessica Weber that helped. I owe those two a big thankyou for the hugely beneficial study session we had the night before the exam - there is no way I would have been able to get anything done on the exam if it wasn't for that. Whatever the case, it pleases me to have avoided having the dreaded letter C applied to any of my class grades thus far in my academic career.
The other thing improving my moral would be the A in Physics. That grade wasn't unexpected, but still is a moral booster. Having all the work I put into the class pay off with a good grade is something that helps keep me motivated in the subject. Needless to say, I told God thanks for getting me through a somewhat hectic semester intact.
Other than that, there isn't a whole lot to say. I don't have any deep musings to post, or any cynical criticizms of some poor soul to spew. I doubt anyone wants to hear about the details of the Differential Equations book I'm reading off and on, so I suppose I'll be signing off for now. Enjoy the break, we will all be back to the salt mines soon enough .
| Note: I am in the process of reworking my site. If things look messed up, it's because they are. | | |

Yehaw! Physics is DONE! (more to come later, if I get the time...)
| Just a short note tonight because I want to try to get back to studying - come to the upper D lounge and see the King of all Christmas trees. Our tree is truly a model of perfection in the art of decoration, and a testament to our creative powers!
Other than that, I'm still studying, or pretending to as the case may be. To those of you (such as myself) who have finals tomorrow, good luck.
